A world of plastic, pink everywhere, and smiles everywhere, this place is called Barbie Land. This is one of the main settings in the movie Barbie. In the beginning, we see the main character (Barbie), and we see that everything is perfect in her world, everyone is perfect, happy, and smiling. The next day is the same, and after that, it’s the same again, but one day Barbie feels a little different, this day she feels like there’s something different about her mindset, she feels like the things she usually does every day she can’t do it today for example her feet become flat instead of pointy. And that becomes the main problem in this movie that Barbie has to try to fix and get back her “perfect” life.

In the movie every character that’s a girl is named “Barbie” and every male is named “Ken”. There is an exception: there is one male named Allan, which is funny since we thought he would be named Ken. Anyways each Barbie has a job/role and the Kens just live as normal people. The main character, the main Barbie, is a normal Barbie and there’s a Ken who likes her but Barbie doesn’t show any feelings back. All the other Barbies have jobs like being a judge, a doctor, etc. There is one other Barbie who is an outcast named “Weird Barbie”, she isn’t perfect like all the other Barbies so she lives far away. 

One day Barbie feels different so to be normal again she goes to find her human that’s playing with her. To do this she goes to the human world. Secretly Ken followed Barbie and they went on an adventure to the human world. When they arrive Barbie realizes in the real world that men are higher than women and women experience bad things that men never experience. For Ken it’s the opposite, he learns how to be manly and goes back to Barbie land to show the other Kens how to be manly. Barbie stays in the human world to find her human and eventually does and they experience getting chased because the company that makes Barbie wants to capture her. They escape to Barbie land where they find out that Ken turned Barbie land into Ken land. A place where the Kens have more power than the Barbies. Barbie is sad and doesnt know what to do because all the other Barbies got brainwashed but Barbie and her human go to Weird Barbie and they form a plan. They can brainwash the Barbies back into being normal and trick the Kens into fighting each other to claim Barbie land back. So that’s what they do and in the end Ken is sad but realizes what he did was wrong and everyone made up and lived happily ever after.

The thing I liked about this movie is that it took everyone’s childhood toy and turned it into a real life thing with real life lessons that can be applied to real life while still being a great movie. There’s been a Barbie tv show but it is nothing like this movie and you may think that’s bad but for me it’s a good thing because it is original and it teaches us a good life lesson. Another thing I can compare this movie to is the toy it was made from. In real life Barbies were a toy every girl wanted but people complained of it because it was “unrealistic” and set “unrealistic” standards for girls at a young age. The Barbie movie saw this problem from back then and then applied it to the movie and didn’t sugar coat it. This is another reason why I love this movie and I know that a lot of people would agree with me.

I feel like everyone should watch this movie. And I’m talking about everyone since I feel like it was a well written movie and also teaches you a very very important lesson. It’s fun, sad, and helps you learn. Going and watching this movie I didn’t expect it to be a good movie, I thought it was gonna be another children’s cash grab movie. But from start to finish I enjoyed every single bit. The fact that it was a trend to watch and wear pink to this movie on TikTok is another good reason. And I know everyone who I talked to about this movie has only positive things to say about it. So you should go watch this movie right now!
